The history

Introduced in 1931 as the standard flight jacket of the U.S. Army Air Corps, the Type A-2 was developed for pilots flying in open and early enclosed aircraft. Worn by American airmen throughout the Second World War, its restrained design and functional elegance transformed military equipment into an enduring icon. The R. West interpretation follows original wartime proportions, constructed using historically faithful materials and methods.
