R. West jackets are cut from vintage-inspired patterns, with each style carrying its own distinct silhouette, proportions and fit. This guide explains how we measure our jackets and how to compare those measurements with a jacket you already own to help you find the right fit.

Individual size charts can be found using the Size Chart tab on the right-hand side of each product page, as measurements and proportions vary between styles.

How to Measure Your Jacket

For the most accurate comparison, choose a jacket you already own that fits you well. Fasten the jacket fully and lay it flat on a level surface, smoothing it naturally without stretching the fabric. Take all measurements in a straight line.

  1. Chest - Pit to Pit
Measure straight across the front of the jacket from one underarm seam to the other, at the widest point of the chest.
  2. Shoulders - Seam to Seam
Measure straight across the back from the outer edge of one shoulder seam to the outer edge of the opposite shoulder seam.
  3. Waist / Hem - Across
Measure straight across the bottom of the jacket from one side to the other, with the jacket lying naturally and fully fastened.
  4. Back Length - Base of Collar to Hem
On the back of the jacket, measure straight down the centre from the base of the collar to the bottom edge of the hem. Do not include the collar itself.
  5. Sleeve Length - Shoulder to Cuff
Measure from the outer edge of the shoulder seam, following the outside of the sleeve down to the very end of the cuff.

Tip: Don’t measure your body and compare those measurements directly with our size charts. Our charts show finished garment measurements, so comparing them with a jacket that already fits you well will give you the most useful reference.
