The Lonely Hunter was the very first jacket I ever launched under Rugged West. It marked the beginning of the journey, and it’s always held a special place in the lineup. I’ve wanted to update the design for a while - so I did, but this time with a sharper eye and a deeper understanding of what makes a jacket truly timeless.
The Lonely Hunter has been simplified and refined, drawing inspiration from the iconic 1960’s Type 3. The goal was to make it look as classic as possible - clean lines, no fuss, just beautiful form and function.
It’s made from a brand-new steerhide that I spent months developing with the tannery. At 1.4mm thick and weighing in at 3.5oz, this hide is rich with oil and features a gorgeously irregular grain. It’s the most beautiful leather I’ve ever worked with. This jacket is built to age slowly, gracefully, and honestly. Just as it should.
The fit is a touch boxy through the body with slightly slimmed-down sleeves for a cleaner silhouette. Finished with our new signature antique nickel poppers.
